Laboratory Glassware Producer Celebrates 175 Year Anniversary
Apr 26 2013
Kavalierglass, a producer of Simax glass, currently ranks among the foremost European producers and exporters of laboratory, technical and household glassware. Located in Sazava, a small town on the same named river in the Czech Republic, in the region with dense forests that played very practical and perhaps even the most important role in establishing the glassworks. The said forest provided enough fuel required for melting glass material.
Sázava Glassworks celebrates 175 years since its foundation and is the oldest glass factory in Europe for technical glass. Czech master of glaziers, František Kavalier built his own glass factory in 1837 and began with the production of technical and laboratory glass that was from the beginning focused on higher chemical resistance. The catalogue of products is published and glassworks began exporting to neighbouring countries. Later the household glassware production was added. Production of Simax, certificated borosilicate glass for technical and household glass, started in 1958.
Kavalierglass is a modern, prosperous enterprise, and is gradually eliminating the impact of its industrial activities on the environment and efficiently participating in the protection of the countryside supporting its re-cultivation.
