Pyroelectric receiver delivers quick and easy IR detection

Laser Components has launched the second-generation model in its Pyroelectric Receiver series – the PR No2 – offering a plug-and-play solution for fast, accurate measurements in lab environments.

Designed for use in applications such as FTIR, TDLAS, infrared fibre lasers, and supercontinuum sources, the PR No2 connects easily via standard power and signal outputs, streamlining setup and data acquisition.

This latest receiver combines a high-performance detector with upgraded electronics, allowing it to handle higher light intensities. As a result, users can obtain reliable readings across a broad spectral range, from ultraviolet (UV) through to terahertz (THz) frequencies.

Two models are available: the PR No2 IR, optimised for long-wave infrared with a KBr window, and the PR No2 THz, equipped with an HDPE window for THz measurements. The IR model features an extended 3 dB electronic bandwidth of at least 35 kHz (typically 50 kHz), while the THz version delivers a 3 dB bandwidth of 50 kHz.
