emc2020 – cancellation

Professor Klaus Qvortrup, Conference Chair of emc2020 which was due to take place August 23-28, has issued the following cancellatin notice,

On behalf of Scandem, the European Microscopy Society (EMS) and the Royal Microscopical Society (RMS - who were the Professional Congress Organisers), I regret to announce that emc2020 in Copenhagen can no longer take place. We have received confirmation that all large events, for over 500 persons, have been ruled out until September by the Danish Government due to COVID-19 and this unfortunately includes our Congress.

I would like to thank all the people who have put so much hard work and passion into the planning of this event. It has taken many thousands of hours of peoples’ time and was shaping up to be a wonderful Congress.

We had an excellent group of organisers looking after the scientific content of the meeting, ensuring that we had the best possible programme planned. To those who submitted any of the 1100+ abstracts that were received, thank you for the time and effort that you put into your submissions and I hope to see your work at other future congresses. I would also like to thank our generous exhibitors and commercial colleagues who had contributed so much to make this event possible.

Over the coming weeks we will be making contact with all those involved directly, as well as having discussions about future possible options for the Congress. Please bear with us as we contact everyone and if you have any questions, please do get in touch.
