2017 RMS Medal Nominations Closing Soon

The Medals award outstanding scientific achievements in all branches of microscopy as well as recognising the unsung heroes in support and technician roles and individuals who volunteer a huge amount of time and energy to the Society.
Nominations should be addressed to Debbie Hunt and submitted by 30th April
The first recipient of the RMS medal for Flow Cytometry has already been announced. Dr Karen Hogg, an experimental officer in the University of York’s Department of Biology’s Imaging and Cytometry Technology Facility will be presented with her award at the Flow Cytometry UK meeting taking place in Leeds (20-22 July) this year.
Medal Award categories include: The RMS President’s Medal, awarded biennially at each mmc meeting. It will recognise an exceptional voluntary contribution to the work of the RMS, for example through work on an RMS committee, or through any other form of contribution; the RMS Vice-Presidents Medal for Microscopy Research and Laboratory Support, also awarded biennially at each mmc meeting. It recognises the “unsung heroes” of microscopy by making an award to an engineer, technician or laboratory research support scientist who has made an outstanding contribution to furthering the science of microscopy; the RMS President’s Medal for Services to the Society; and also the RMS Alan Agar Medal for Electron Microscopy. The aim of the award is to celebrate and mark outstanding scientific achievements applying electron microscopy in the field of physical or life sciences. RMS awards are also presented for outstanding scientific achievements in Life Sciences, Light Microscopy, Applied Microscopy for Materials Science, Flow Cytometry and Scanning Probe Microscopy.
