UK scientists and laboratories honoured throughout March

Mar 01 2011

With National Science and Engineering Work due to take place from March 10th to 20th, scientists and laboratories across the UK are being honoured throughout the month.

Research Councils UK (RCUK) explains that it has organised a month-long itinerary of events intended to promote the importance of scientific research to members of the public.

They include the Big Bang Fair, at London's ExCeL Centre, which addresses topics like future power sources - both biofuel-based and nuclear - from a perspective young people, parents and teachers might find interesting.

On March 6th, meanwhile, the RCUK Digital Economy Programme looks at the shift in the balance of power in countries around the world.

The event is also due to address social networking and computer gaming, considering how they are shaping storytelling.

RCUK is an umbrella term for research councils in the fields of arts and humanities, biotechnology, engineering and physical sciences, economic and social research, medicine, the natural environment, and science and technology.
