Endovascular techniques 'drive growth in neurological lab equipment'
Jul 05 2010
These include the demand for neuromodulation devices and the continued acceptance of endovascular techniques.
Endovascular surgery sees the body's major blood vessels used to produce images of the inside of the patient, while stents and coils are also increasingly used.
In its report entitled European Markets for Neurological Devices 2010, iData Research notes how the uptake of endovascular surgery is spurring sales of related lab equipment in 15 countries across the continent.
Overall, the market for neurological devices was valued at 500 million (£413 million) in 2009 across Europe, including the UK.
The report notes that there are a few major suppliers leading the sector at present.
However, despite the dominance of about five major brands, there are many other suppliers also currently catering for the needs of physicians and researchers in the sector.
