Green cooling solutions: Ozone-friendly refrigerant air dryers

Feb 05 2024

In a significant move toward greater environmental sustainability, Hi-line Industries announces the transition of its renowned Tundra range of refrigerant air dryers to R-513A as of 2024. R-513A, known as Opteon™ XP10, is a hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) refrigerant designed as a replacement for R-134a. This transition reflects Hi-line's commitment to offering a high-performance product with a focus on reducing environmental impact.

R-513A stands out with its zero ozone depleting potential (ODP) and a 56% lower global warming potential (GWP) compared to R-134a. This aligns with sustainability goals and ensures compliance with F gas legislation. The refrigerant is classified in the A1 (non-flammable) safety category, making it an ideal retrofit choice for R-134a while maintaining similar cooling performance. Its negligible temperature glide ensures consistent and reliable day-to-day performance.

Despite this transition to a more environmentally friendly refrigerant, Hi-line Industries is steadfast in maintaining the pricing of the Tundra range throughout 2024. This strategic decision aims to support customers facing challenging market conditions and allows them to stay competitive in their respective industries.

Tundra refrigeration air dryers have become a staple in various industries across the UK. Renowned for their reliability, energy efficiency, and competitive pricing, Tundra dryers play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of compressed air, protecting valuable assets, and outperforming competitors in terms of energy efficiency. The innovative features of Tundra include a patented single-cell heat exchanger, ensuring efficient heat transfer at low energy costs, and a controller-condensate removal valve link that minimises compressed air loss during condensate discharge.

The success and impact of Hi-line extend beyond product recognition, with Managing Director Steve Smith recently inducted into the Industrial Plant and Equipment Hall of Fame. Smith's over 40 years of experience in the compressed air sector, coupled with Hi-line's commitment to corporate social responsibility, earned recognition. The company's sponsorship initiatives, including supporting local sports teams and charitable activities, showcase its dedication to making a positive impact beyond the business realm. Hi-line's continued sponsorship of athletes like Tom Hamer and support for causes like Help for Heroes further underline its commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.
