Launch of New Petri Dish Design 

bioMérieux has launched an improved 90mm Petri dish design for its entire pre-poured media range, featuring better stacking stability for multiple dishes and a locator mark to help direct manual inoculations in microbiology laboratories.

The updated design incorporates a stacking ring into the lid of each plate which minimises the risk of stacks of plates toppling onto the bench. It simplifies routine plate handling for both automated and manual inoculation; the new dishes are fully compatible with bioMérieux’s PREVI® Isola automated specimen inoculation system, and the addition of a frosted locator mark on the bottom of each plate directs manual inoculation.

The launch of the new design coincides with the release of bioMérieux’s culture media catalogue, which outlines the Company’s dedication to patient care through service, quality and continuing innovation. The catalogue also serves as an excellent training tool, with many outstanding images and details of incubation protocols for the growth of the full scope of microorganisms. All available pre-poured products are listed in the catalogue, from simple and specific media, to selective and differential media, the innovative chromID™ chromogenic media range, and media for susceptibility testing and environmental controls.
