Anton Paar's millikelvin thermometer MKT 50 measures the temperature to the highest level of accuracy. It is well known for its high quality and good performance for applications which require a low measuring uncertainty of down to 0.001°C.

The National Institute of Metrology China (NIM) uses MKT 50 for accurate measurements of temperature in some fundamental thermometric studies. As Mr Zhang, Head Scientist at NIM, reported: “The first time I heard of MKT 50 was from the chief scientist at the Berlin thermometry sector of PTB, Germany. He recommended the good performance and relatively low price of MKT 50. We now use MKT 50s to measure the temperature of high stability thermostat baths. We connect the MKT 50 meters to our high-performance standard platinum thermometers. We observe that if the bath temperature is sufficiently stable, the accuracy of the MKT 50 systems can be as good as 0.5mK. The observation confirms the outstanding performance of the MKT 50 model.”

The Chinese National Institute of Metrology maintains 127 primary standards, 258 national standards and provides over 1062 types of reference materials. Mr Zhang is happy with the MKT 50: “Not only because of its high performance, but also it is low cost for an instrument in the 1mK range.”
