Electron Generator Arrays for Uniform, Dense Flux
Apr 17 2013
ELECTROGEN™ from Photonis is a specially processed microchannel device which emits an electron beam from each microchannel when voltage is applied across the array. ELECTROGEN™ units are specifically designed to produce a uniform, dense flux with no warm-up time, and without a heat-up and stabilisation period. ELECTROGEN™ products require much less maintenance than filament sources, and provide much higher current densities yet still provide millions of parallel electron beams. They can be used as the electron source in electron impact ionisation or as a cold ionisation source in experiments where the heat from conventional filaments causes pyrolytic effects that alter the results.
ELECTROGEN™ can be used in a variety of applications, including:
- Fluorescent Display Screens
- Charged Particle Beam Monitoring
- Electron Scrub Sources
- Mass Spectrometry
- Residual Gas Analysis
- Sample Discharge for SEMs
- Electron Impact Ionisation
ELECTROGEN™ devices are offered in a variety of array sizes, from 4mm to 150mm, and larger arrays can be made by tiling multiple devices. They can be manufactured with single plates, or in chevron or Z-stack configurations.
