Kromasil’s 30 years of continuous collaboration with chromatographers

We are pleased to celebrate the 30 years of Kromasil, the high performance chromatographic media based on state-of-the-art silica for industrial HPLC, SFC and SMB purifications as well as UHPLC, HPLC and SFC analytical applications.

Initially sold for the purification of insulin, Kromasil is now the premium choice for pharmaceuticals and API purifications worldwide for its outstanding mechanical and chemical stability, consistent batch-to-batch reproducibility and extraordinary selectivity.

Today Kromasil is sold under four different platforms: Classic, Eternity, SFC and Chiral. Kromasil Classic is the initial platform based on first-in-class silica material. It is designed for the whole range from analytical through development to production scale in normal and reversed phase. Kromasil Eternity is a platform based on patented state-of-the-art grafting technology for reversed-phase separations where users can also employ this material under harsh conditions. Kromasil SFC is designed for scientists focused on green technologies. Kromasil Chiral is based on in-house developed silica matrix coated with a functionalised amylose or cellulose selector for both laboratory and industrial chromatography. We continually update our application database where users can access for guidance on methods.

Kromasil materials are manufactured in Bohus, Sweden. The production plant is an ISO 9001 facility with a manufacturing permit for 25 tons of material per year. Kromasil products are available as bare silica and with various surface modifications for normal phase, reversed phase, chiral and supercritical fluid chromatography applications.
