Science software 'a precious ally' against climate change
May 18 2010
The institution's Predictive Models for Biomedicine and the Environment research unit recently held a discussion event dedicated to the role of science software and computing capabilities in tackling climate change.
Among the most relevant platforms at present are the Web Processing Service, according to the foundation.
This and similar software platforms are described as "precious allies in the research on climate change".
Information technology and its applications are a key area of research for the Fondazione Bruno Kessler.
One of its main topics of study, the IT strand of the institution's work looks at how computer systems can add value not just to the research industry itself, but also contribute towards cultural growth and social welfare.
The ultimate aim is to develop a connected environment linking private companies with public bodies, research organisations and universities.
