‘Meet the Scientist’  - Mysteries  Explained

The University of Liverpool has launched a series of interactive events aimed at visitors to the Liverpool World Museum to demonstrate the global impact of health research.The autumn season of events began with ‘Fat Cats and Hot Dogs,’ exploring how germs can travel between animals and humans, including exhibits on how to keep pets and farm animals fit and healthy.

The event will be followed by ‘Body Works,’ which will show visitors how the human body works from the tiniest of cells, to the complex puzzle of the skeleton and muscles.

Dr Mieke De Lathouwers, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences Public Engagement Officer, said: “These events provide us with a fantastic opportunity to showcase some of our work in a fun and interesting way to the public.”

The New Year winter season will start with ‘Marvellous Medicine,’ providing visitors with a closer look at where medicines and drugs come from and how and why they are becoming more personalised.

Jon Marrow, Senior Education Officer at World Museum, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for our visitors to discover the very latest research in a fun way and we are delighted to be working with scientists from the University of Liverpool.”

Events are free and take place from 11.00am to 4.00pm.
