Siemens adds Diagnostics to China Manufacturing Capability
Oct 11 2016
The expansion of its infrastructure operations to include in-country manufacturing capabilities for clinical chemistry and immunoassay reagents in China, has been announced by Siemens Healthineers. The company is to extend its existing manufacturing operations in Shanghai to include a new in vitro diagnostics facility. “This investment demonstrates the company’s continued commitment to address the evolving needs in the Chinese market and in healthcare markets across the globe,” said Franz Walt, President, Laboratory Diagnostics, Siemens Healthineers.
China is the second largest market for the company. According to George Chan, President, Greater China, Siemens Healthineers, “The opening of this facility strengthens our ability to support Chinese healthcare reform as we deliver better outcomes at a lower cost to our customers.” The business expects to add hundreds of additional employees once the project is complete.
In May this year Siemens Healthcare formally changed its name to Siemens Healthiners, chosen to embody the company’s pioneering spirit and engineering expertise in the healthcare industry. This has given a new identity to the organisation and to the people – the people accompanying, serving and inspiring healthcare providers worldwide – the people behind outstanding products and solutions, said the company.
