Seward secures environmental credentials

Leading blenders and accessories manufacturer Seward has received ISO14001 certification for  practices to minimise its environmental impact while continually improving its sustainable development. The company’s environmental policy focuses on reduction of material and energy wastage and promotion of recyclable and renewable materials in its Stomacher bag manufacturing process. With the ultimate aim to recycle all waste from its business, Seward which is is currently recycling 85% of its plastic, paper and cardboard production waste, which contributes to  an overall 40% in general company waste, is working in conjunction with a private company who operate a ‘Zero Landfill Policy’.

As a UK Environment Agency registered EEE (electrical and electronic equipment) producer, Seward will also take back any waste originally supplied and dispose of it in an environmentally sound manner.

“Achieving ISO14001 certification is a key milestone in our ongoing commitment to operating Seward as an environmentally sensitive company and also fully complying with international environmental legislation,” said  general manager Dan Crothers.  “Also in line with our strong green credentials, we are keen to talk to customers who have similar environmental policies to us and who are interested in collaborating to reduce the environmental impact of laboratory testing.”
