Columns Support Greener Technology
Apr 10 2015
AkzoNobel’s Separation Products Group, a global leader in separation products for analytical and purification applications, formally launched its new Kromasil® SFC family of supercritical fluid chromatography columns at the Pittcon expo.
Developed as part of AkzoNobel’s continued drive to support greener chemistry technologies, Kromasil SFC slurry-packed columns are based on the trusted, high performance, spherical Kromasil silica, designed for faster separations based on 2.5 µm particle size technology and available with diol, silica, cyano and 2-ethylpyridine phases. These features make the new SFC family ideal as analytical and semiprep columns in UHPLC, HPLC, SFC and SMB applications and for bulk in pilot and full-scale production.
Presenting columns and materials for achiral and chiral applications the Kromasil team also demonstrated how the new SFC technology’s low viscosity separation and high flow rates increase productivity and efficiency, with lower CO2emissions. The new columns also exhibit more efficient evaporation of fractions, leading to solvent waste reduction.
“These columns are tailor-made for research and development as well as for routine analysis,” said Mattias Bengtsson, Kromasil’s Head of Global Marketing and Sales. “With these chemistries the laboratory scientist is able to separate and analyse a wide range of substances, from non-polar to strongly polar compounds, using Kromasil’s SFC stationary phase that we can show should be the first choice for reliability, consistency and reproducibility,” said Mr. Bengtsson.
