MEDICA: 12-15 November 2014, Düsseldorf: Success generates inventiveness
Sep 05 2014
At trade shows and event business, innovations and continual ‘product care’ represent crucial factors for success and the organisers of Medica, which they claim is the world’s largest medical trade show, seem to have hit on a formula for continued success. Recent figures revealed that of the 4,500 exhibitors and over 130,000 professional visitors, more than half of the visitors and three-quarters of the exhibitors were from abroad, with 95% having decision-making authority. This could explain why 96% of MEDICA exhibitors were extremely satisfied with their trade fair participation and the contacts that have been generated, according to Joachim Schäfer, Managing Director of event organisers Messe Düsseldorf, GmbH.
The Congress and Trade Fair have also been continuously revised to meet both visitor requirements and exhibitor needs; these have included the introduction of English-speaking presentations such as the MEDICA TECH FORUM and the re-launch of the MEDICA HEALTH IT Forum. The main Congress title has also been changed to the MEDICA EDUCATION CONFERENCE to reflect an intensified focus on key topics.
New conference streams being developed include a far-reaching “Live-cell therapy” session supported by new partner the German Society for Internal Medicine (DGIM), whose 23,000 members are closely networked in the fields of science, medicine and health services on a European-wide basis. The conference for disaster and military medicine DiMiMED, as well as the MEDICA MEDICINE + SPORTS CONFERENCE, focusing on injury prevention and sports medicine treatment concepts also return for the second year following successfull debuts, while the MEDICA PHYSIO CONFERENCE organised by Thieme, is new to the program this year.
The many exhibitor presentation programme also ties in with the same themes as the conference forums and main stream topics, around 4,500 exhibitors from around 65 nations will use MEDICA 2014 to present a spectrum of new products, services and procedures to raise efficiency and quality in outpatient and in-patient care on almost 116,000 square meters of booked floor space, Mr Schäfer said.
Clearly structured according to hall, focuses of the MEDICA trade show include: Electromedicine/medical technology (more than 2,500 exhibitors), laboratory technology/diagnostics, physiotherapy/orthopedic technology, commodities and consumables, information and communication technology, medical furniture and specialist furnishings, and building technology for hospitals and doctors’ offices.
