Food Bioactives and Health Conference 2016
Jun 21 2016
An international conference exploring the challenges and opportunities of demonstrating health benefits from bioactives is to be held in Norwich, UK, during 13th-15th September. Organised by the Institute of Food Research (IFR) the conference should be of interest to researchers from academia and the agri-food sector with interests in food bioactives, their health benefits, developing health claims to support these and the development of novel foods and nutraceuticals.
A major theme of the conference will be how different individuals vary in their response to bioactive compounds. This takes into account not only an individual’s genetic differences, but also their own gut microbiome. Norwich is set to be a world-leader in research in this area, with the development of the Quadram Institute bringing together food scientists and gut biologists to work at the forefront of their field.
Other themes include the bioavailability and metabolism of bioactives and their impacts on health and disease, including important new research on the mechanisms by which they affect these benefits.
Health claims, safety, formulation and delivery will also be covered in the conference, which will give researchers the chance to discuss common challenges in all of these areas.
The conference is sponsored by Elsevier, COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) and the Bacchus project.
Registration for the conference is now open, for details visit https://ilmt.co/PL/Rp5R
