Chinese VIP Highlights Opportunities in Cambridge
Mar 10 2011
A recent visit to Cambridge, UK, by Mr Zhou Xiaoming, Minister Councellor from the Chinese Embassy, enabled him to discover inward investment opportunities in a key business sector – Life Sciences. After meeting representatives at Health Enterprise East (HEE), based at Papworth Hospital, he moved onto antibody labelling specialist Innova Bioscience, which is forging links with China.
“I have been very impressed with the innovation, skills and entrepreneurship I have seen today in Cambridge,” said Mr Zhou Xiaoming. I am particularly pleased to hear about the strong links, which all the companies I have visited currently enjoy with China. This visit really confirms what an exciting place Cambridge is to do business with right now.”
Dr Nick Gee, Chief Executive Officer at Innova Biosciences, said:
“China is a major force in bioscience R&D and represents a significant growth opportunity for Innova Biosciences. With UKTI support, Innova made an exploratory visit to the country earlier in the year and we were delighted therefore to host the minister and to hear more about the opportunities in China for Innova’s pioneering bioconjugation technology.”
Tim Mitchell, CEO of Sareum Ltd, a specialist cancer drug discovery business said: “This was a useful opportunity to explain to Minister Counsellor Zhou Xiaoming how we are looking to grow our Cambridge-based business by collaborating with partners in China and for him to hear first hand some of the experiences we have had meeting with these potential partners.”
