Fujitsu Collaborates with Clinical Centre in Spain

Dr Julio Mayol Martínez, Director of Innovation at the FIBHCSC explains the importance of this first project: “We are constantly looking to identify new ways of improving how we deal with mental illness, which represents a heavy burden of disease in developed countries. We have access to a wealth of data, but it is difficult to extract meaningful information that helps us improve the care we deliver. This project applies an entirely new approach, using informatics to extract and visualise a range of useful information that can give clues as to the behaviour of our patients. It is an important step forward, and we are working closely with Fujitsu to translate these initial results into broader integrated healthcare services in the future.” 
Angeles Delgado, Head of Fujitsu in Spain said: “We are delighted to cement the relationship between Fujitsu and FIBHCSC with this formal research collaboration framework agreement, and we are already looking at new areas of research. The mental health project is the first component in a larger program, looking at applying informatics to create a truly integrated healthcare solution.”
A second project is already under review, involving faster and more efficient cancer detection deploying Fujitsu’s medical image registration technology for comparing nodules’ temporal changes.
