Apr 05 2017
The Microscience Microscopy Congress Series is well-known for its huge free microscopy and imaging exhibition that runs alongside the scientific conference.
As well as over 100 exhibitors showcasing their latest products and services, the exhibition provides a number of free training opportunities including drop-in commercial workshops, the Learning Zone area and an introductory seminar theatre. This year, the exhibition, one of Europe’s largest microscopy and imaging exhibitions, will take place in Manchester from 4-6 July.
The industry-led commercial workshops offer insights into imaging techniques and data analysis on a wide range of systems, presented by the company experts. There will be four workshop areas throughout the hall, each with their own daily timetable so there are plenty of workshops to choose from.
The unique, drop-in Learning Zone area is filled with a selection of equipment and has impartial experts on hand to offer advice and answer any questions you may have. The Learning Zone also has its own Seminar Theatre, hosting introductory talks to variety of microscopy techniques. One part of its timetable, the Journal of Microscopy Author Workshops presented by Wiley, are ideal for students and early career researchers looking for tips on how to get your paper published.
With your free exhibition entry, you can view all the submitted posters to the mmc2017 conference spanning all microscopy techniques in life and physical sciences and engineering. The daily poster sessions will give you the opportunity to discuss the research with the author in an informal setting. Your registration will also allow you to view the shortlisted entries of the RMS Scientific Imaging Competition. This impressive gallery of micrographs is always eye-catching and worth browsing. Entries are still being accepted to the Royal Microscopical Society’s competition on their website.
During your visit, you can also choose to attend some of the mmc2017 satellite meetings to meet with peers and discuss some of the latest advances in equipment and research.
The FIB & EM Prep User Group Meeting on Tuesday 4 July is an open forum for FIB & EM specimen preparation equipment users to share technique advances, exchange tips for preparation of difficult materials and learn about new developments in the field.
The NEUBIAS BioImage Analyst Community Meeting on Wednesday 5 July will explain the aims and activities of the new NEUBIAS network and start to build a coherent UK bioimage analyst community.
For the first time, the British Measurement and Testing Association will be part of mmc2017. They will host a seminar on Thursday 6 July entitled ‘Optical Measurements in Industrial Inspection.’ The seminar will feature speakers from BAE Systems and Intertek. The only paid aspect of the exhibition, registration for the seminar is £60 and includes lunch and refreshments.
