Sustainable Laboratory Airflow Control Upgrades Announced
Aug 10 2020
Laboratory teams worldwide now have access to two newly upgraded environmentally sustainable airflow control products, designed to further enhance both user experience and operational precision.
The AFA 5000 Room Space Controller from specialist electronic airflow control and monitor manufacturer and consultant, TEL, has been upgraded to offer users improved screen resolution, air control, flexibility and ease of use.
The screen features simple RJ45 connection, the plug-in cable facilitating a distance of up to 100m between the screen and the main I/O control board, allowing greater flexibility of laboratory design. A new surface mount enclosure enables easier wall mounting.
The new unit facilitates greater data input and output, increasing the number of devices to which it may be connected, extending the degree of control that the user has over the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.
The addition of a USB port for firmware and parameter-setting allows software to be updated quickly and easily.
TEL’s AFA 5000 ensures that the air within a laboratory is at its optimum quantity and quality, in terms of the safety and comfort of users and the function of the facility. By precluding the need for a building management system (BMS), the AFA 5000 enables users to control the air precisely, energy-efficiently and reliably.
TEL has also upgraded its AFA 4000 integrated VAV (variable airflow volume) Controller and Auto Sash Controller, which features a new high resolution screen and simple snap-fitting. The new screen has also been incorporated in to TEL’s AFA4000/1 and AFA4000/2 airflow monitoring systems.
The integrated unit automatically adjusts airflow according to need, decreasing the volume of air extracted when laboratory fume cupboards are not in use, minimising energy consumption. It is simpler to install and calibrate than separate VAV and auto sash controllers.
TEL Director, Richard Eady, said: “Both the AFA 5000 and 4000 have achieved worldwide popularity among fume cupboard manufacturers, contractors and laboratory managers who want to facilitate safe, energy-efficient laboratory airflow control.
“We are confident that the upgraded units will quickly prove their worth in this market, where sustainability-conscious users expect continually improving levels of performance and user experience.”
Established in 1969, family firm TEL was a pioneer in the manufacture of fume hood airflow controls and monitors critical to the respiratory protection of laboratory workers worldwide, enabling customers to comply with health and safety legislation.
The company works in close partnership with fume cupboard manufacturers, contractors and users across the world, and its international supplier network spans Europe, the US, Africa and Asia.
It provides a full service offer, including product and laboratory design consultation, product supply and installation, training and technical backup.
