For a safe Diwali, test your milk

When using raw milk make sure that no bacterial contamination and foodborne illness will ruin the festivities when eating your wonderful barfi, gulab jamun, jalebi, or peda. You can guarantee the safety of milk by consuming pasteurised milk. However, you will still need to test it for peroxidase.

Peroxidase testing is an important quality control measure in the dairy industry to ensure that milk is safe for consumption. Testing for peroxidase in milk is a method used to determine if the milk has been adequately pasteurised. Peroxidase is an enzyme that is naturally present in raw milk but is destroyed during pasteurisation. If peroxidase activity is detected in milk, it may indicate that, the milk has not been pasteurised properly, has been contaminated after pasteurisation, or is raw milk.
