Lab Melting System
Aug 09 2013
Linn High Therm, leading manufacturer of industrial and laboratory furnaces since 1969, presents their high frequency semiconductor generator system for melting and casting of glass in a double induction furnace. The main application is glass research, volcanology (basalt research) and petrography.
The maximum reachable melting temperatures, depending on crucible material, are 1750°C (PtRh) respectively 1900°C (Iridium). The melting quantity is 0.1 – 1.0 kg, in case of special furnaces up to 5 kg.
Main advantages of this technology include: more flexible application possibilities; less weight; smaller dimensions; faster melting; higher efficiency. The automatisation via a RS-interface enables easier integration in consisting processes.
The integrated control unit allows more flexible heating programs with user defined performance ramps. Furthermore, induction coils with a big inductivity range can be used. Optionally, viscometer measurement is possible.
The system is simple to service due to the easy replacement of components and less weight. High frequency semiconductor generators are furthermore used for inductive heating processes such as hardening, soldering, annealing, welding, melting or levitation melting, gluing and shrinking.
