The PortaBlend 4 is an attractively priced gas blender ideally suited for use by test houses to blend accurate gas mixtures in 4 steps from 100% through to 1:4 dilution. Its key feature is that is does not require regular external calibration by an independent laboratory due to its unique binary calibration method. PortaBlend 4 is designed to deliver binary gas mixtures blended to specific concentration ratios to an accuracy of better than 0.5% of concentration. Its intended use is to provide a simple, reliable and accurate method of delivering fully automated multipoint span and zero checks to Continuous Emission Monitoring systems (CEMS).

The PortaBlend 4 is housed in a wheeled flight case with one gas input for protocol gases and one for the diluent gas. A software suite installed on a laptop is used to set up and monitor the operation of the device. This easy to use package allows the operator to select a variety of functions including calibration, mixture and audit gas selection.

The PortaBlend 4 uses three very repeatable and stable mass flow controllers in its operation, these are factory tested to ensure the blender remains stable during its operational life. The PortaBlend 4 will suit test houses that engage in checking emissions monitors on site and is used in RATA testing and for carrying out the linearity checks required in EN14181 and represents a major advance in on-site gas blending technology. This method also meets or exceeds the performance requirements of the United States EPA 40 CFR Part 51 Method 205 Appendix M.
