New starters join TGAC’s Bioinformatics

The Bioinformatics team at The Genome Analysis Centre has recently welcomed new members to their scientific analysis group. Purnima Pachori has joined TGAC as Scientific Programmer involved in assembling and analysing project data. Purnima is a recent MSc graduate from UEA and undertook work experience at The Sainsbury Laboratory where she carried out work on assembly and analysis of data generated from next generation sequencing technologies. Shabhonam Caim also joins TGAC as a Scientific Programmer focusing on soil metagenomics and combining data obtained from different next generation sequencing platforms.
Shabhonam is a recent MSc graduate from UEA who completed dissertation work at The Sainsbury Laboratory.
Dr Lisa Crossman joins for six months and will aid TGAC set up an annotation and analysis pipeline. Lisa joins from the Pathogen Sequencing Unit at the Sanger Institute and brings with her extensive experience of annotating and analysing microbial genomes. Lisa has been involved in many important microbial research projects leading to many scientific publications.
Dr Robert Davey has been appointed Software Engineer and will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the LIMS system, including the integration of sequence analysis pipelines into a new information platform.
Robert, previously with the Institute of Food Research, has expertise in programming, data management and data visualisation.
Ricardo Ramirez-Gonzalez lso joined as Scientific Programmer responsible for programming new software tools and extending the functionality of current systems used in the data analysis of sequencing projects.
