IRPF-PSE 2017 Award Winners

During the Phytochemical Society of Europe’s (PSE) Lille Symposium, the Pierre Fabre Research and Development Institute (IRPF) and the Phytochemical Society of Europe presented their annual awards to the three winners for 2017. Open to scientists worldwide, this competition rewards particularly innovative phytochemical research projects in the therapeutic fields of oncology, dermatology, the central nervous system and oral care.
In oncology, Florent Olivon, a Metabolomics PhD student at the Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles, CNRS-ICSN, Gif-sur-Yvette, France, was nominated for his work on the molecular networking of molecules isolated from New Caledonian Euphorbiaceae,
In neurology, Prof. Francesco Epifano, Professor in the Department of Pharmacy, Gabriele d’Annunzio University, Chieti-Pescara, Italy, was nominated for the study of natural substances interacting with melatonin receptors in the context of epilepsies.
In dermatology, Prof. Srijit Das, Professor of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, Kebangsaan University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was nominated for his work on the treatment of diabetes-related skin wounds using Momordica charantia.
For 2018, 1 to 3 prizes will be awarded in each of the 4 therapeutic fields with a check for €3,000 and an official winner’s certificate. The results will be announced in March 2018 and the Prizes will be officially presented at one of the conferences organised by the Phytochemical Society of Europe. Pierre Fabre Research And Development Institute has committed to sponsoring these Phytochemical Society of Europe Awards until 2019 and the winners will be invited to present their research at the Pierre Fabre R&D Center located on the Toulouse Oncopole Campus.
Applications for the 2018 awards are now open and candidates can apply until December 31 2017 at phytochemicalsociety.org or by email PF-Prize@phytochemicalsociety.org.
