NanoSight acquired by Malvern Instruments
Sep 30 2013
Nanoparticle characterisation company NanoSight Ltd has been acquired by materials and biophysical characterisation experts Malvern Instruments. The acquisition was completed on Friday 27th September.
NanoSight has successfully developed Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA), for determining particle size, concentration, zeta potential and aggregation which can be aligned with Malvern’s Zetasizer range to extend nanoscale characterisation solutions.
Paul Walker, Managing Director of Malvern Instruments, said: “NanoSight is a real entrepreneurial success story and I am delighted to be welcoming the NanoSight team to Malvern. NanoSight has grown every year since it was established in 2002, achieving a turnover of £5.7 million in 2012, and has ambitious plans for the future. We will be providing the investment and support needed to continue this drive forward and are absolutely committed to developing the NanoSight brand within the Malvern portfolio.
"This is a very exciting time and by bringing together complementary, leading edge technologies, Malvern continues to focus on delivering the analytical tools which laboratories so urgently need.”
Jeremy Warren CEO of NanoSight said: “Malvern is our natural home; nobody today has been surprised by this news and this move will bring benefit both to NanoSight’s business and our team. We have always seen Malvern as the clear leader in our sector and the exemplar of what we wish to become. Its development capability will add significant horsepower to the product pipeline that NanoSight already has.
“Both companies agree that we do not compete as much as some observers might believe; we are technologies which are largely complementary and we will be working very hard to understand and combine this expertise to bring new products to market – we will be guided throughout by what the customer wants and how best we can achieve those goals.
I am not alone here in seeing a bright future for both businesses.”
NanoSight employs around 50 people worldwide and will continue to operate from its current facilities in Amesbury, Wiltshire, UK, under the existing management team.
