Award Reflects Steady Growth Trajectory

Medisieve, a medical device company developing magnetic blood filtration ended last year on a high note as a winner of the ‘Breakthrough Medical or Healthcare Device Award’ in the Beanstalks competition 2019, held during the ‘GIANT’ Health Event, in London. 

Dr George Frodsham, founder and CEO of MediSieve said, “We were very pleased to receive this award in what was a very competitive line-up, which included some fantastic and innovative companies. The event was a good opportunity for us to continue spreading the word about MediSieve to help raise awareness of the company and the work we’re doing. Beanstalks celebrates advances within the medical sector, with a primary focus on startup companies. As winners of the competition, MediSieve will receive a multitude of prizes to help grow and develop the business even further, including, free consultancy and strategy healthchecks.

The achievement reflects a successful year for the company which is developing technology with the potential to transform the treatment of blood-borne diseases including sepsis, leukaemia and malaria in a process similar to dialysis. Dr Frodsham was recently awarded the Early Career Impact Award BBSRC Innovator of the year and MediSieve’s chief technology officer, Cristina Blanco-Andujar, completed the Royal Academy of Engineering's prestigious SME Leaders Programme. In October the company was also a finalist of Emerging Technologies, run by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Dr Frodsham was also named on the peer-reviewed Innovators under 35 list.*

Two years ago the company won CMS Healthcare Startup of the Year at Giant Health, one of London’s major healthcare events.
