Innovation Focus at Cambridge

Clare College, Cambridge was the venue of a press day where editors from more than 30 science publications saw the launch or previewed products and services new to the laboratory, life science and biotechnology sectors.
Senior executives and technologists represented companies including Asynt, Bibby Scientific, The Brady Corporation, Camlab, Eppendorf, IKS International, Quality Systems International, Spectro and Starna Scientific. Product innovations unveiled at the event included: an advanced electronic pipette; chemical synthesis reaction equipment; an enhanced flow chemistry system; a new entry level spectrophotometer and
a space-saving, energy-efficient thermal cycler to support PCR research.
The invitation-only event organised by Phoenix MarCom, took place in the inspiring setting of the newly opened Gillespie Centre. Paul Carter,
Managing Director Phoenix MarCom, said: “The event attracted delegates from Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany as well as the UK and included presentations, discussions and exhibition materials highlighting a wealth of new bioscience techniques and applications. We were also fortunate to have as our guest speaker, Dr Thomas Scheuring, Head of Exhibition Congresses at DECHEMA (The German Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology) from Germany who presented an overview of the work of the organisation which promotes international research and technical advances in the areas of chemical engineering, biotechnology and environmental protection.”
