Diagnostic company Atlas Genetics, which specialises in development of ultra-rapid point-of-care tests for a range of infectious diseases, has announced the appointment of Neil Butler as Chairman.

Mr Butler, who joined the Board in November 2011, was founder and former CEO of Vivacta, which offers ultra-high sensitivity immunoassay testing; he has also held the post of CEO at Oxford Biosensors, an Oxford University spin-out offering hand-held medical diagnostics. Most recently, he has served as a consultant to the medical devices and diagnostics industry, including projects for a number of European Venture Capital companies and BVGH, a San Francisco based organisation working with The Gates Foundation to set technical and business standards in

Dr John Clarkson, CEO of Atlas, commented: “Neil brings extensive medical diagnostic expertise to Atlas Genetics which will be invaluable as we move forward with the development and commercialisation of our Velox™ assay system for the ultra-rapid pointof-
