SPECORD – 50 Years of Photometers from Jena
Apr 20 2014
In the year 1846 Carl Zeiss founded the Optical Workshop in Jena which was the beginning of the industrial production of analytical instruments worldwide. Today the company draws on 150 years of tradition and is closely committed to the historic achievements of Ernst Abbe and Carl Zeiss. Analytik Jena's premium products carry the "made in Germany" label, an indicator of the highest quality standards.
In 1963 Carl Zeiss Jena introduced the spectrophotometer SPECORD® an instrument that succeeded the Pulfrich photometer first presented in 1924. Even in those days, the SPECORD® series was known for being "reliable, fast, extremely robust and universal". When Analytik Jena acquired the product section of lab analysis technology from Carl Zeiss Jena in 1995, it enabled the company to continue with production of proven product lines, while presenting the opportunity for adding its own innovative ideas to lead the business into the 21st century.
Like all preceding models, the current SPECORD® PLUS series stands for precision, flexibility, reliability and ease of use. The range was completed by the introduction last year of the SPECORD 50 PLUS, a double beam photometer with split-beam technology for the spectral range from 190 to 1100 nm combines high energy throughput with best stability. Quartz-coated, premium, encapsulated optical components guarantee highest quality, maximum performance and extreme durability.
The new instrument complements the proven SPECORD 200 PLUS with fixed slit, which stands for simultaneous measurements of both sample and reference, the SPECORD 210 PLUS with five variable slit widths for measuring samples with the highest requirements to the optical resolution and the SPECORD 250 PLUS with five variable slit widths and double monochromator for samples with a high proportion of stray light.
The innovative design and the unparalleled range of accessories make SPECORD the universal talent for routine tasks and special applications. Above 150.000 installed instruments globally emphasise that spectrophotometers from Jena are the instrument of choice for users around the world, the company said.
