Mass Spectrometry & Spectroscopy
Fully Simultaneous Measurement of Elements from Lithium to Uranium Delivered
Jun 20 2013
The Spectro MS is the first commercially available ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer) capable of truly simultaneous mass spectrometry.
A revolutionary new detector placed at the focal plane of the mass spectrometer simultaneously and quantitatively measures the entire mass spectrum, from lithium to uranium. This has the immediate benefit that all isotopes are measured at the same instant in time, allowing ratio measurements that are free of noise from the sample introduction system, such as flicker noise from the plasma itself or pulsation from the peristaltic pump. It also greatly improves the instrument’s ability to handle transient signals.
The accuracy and precision of the measurements, and hence the reliability of the conclusions drawn from them, are vastly improved.
Additionally, collecting the entire mass spectrum allows future analysis utilising any element in the sample, even when the sample is no longer available.
Productivity is also improved: the complete mass spectra of up to 100 samples per hour can be recorded with no limitations on the number of elements or isotopes measured.
