New UV-Vis-NIR Spectrophotometer provides Highest Sensitivity Through Three Detectors
Oct 13 2014
Shimadzu has released a new milestone in the world of spectroscopy. As the market leader in UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy, Shimadzu introduces the new UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer UV-3600 Plus. This system has been designed for highest sensitivity and includes three detectors, a photomultiplier tube (PMT), for the ultraviolet and visible regions, and InGaAs (indium gallium arsenide) and PbS detectors (Lead Sulphide) for the near infrared region. To ensure high sensitivity over the entire measurement wavelength range, the InGaAs detector bridges the gap between the PMT/PbS switching wavelength where sensitivity is typically low.
With its high performance double monochromator, ultra-low stray light (0.00005% or less at 340 nm) is achieved at high resolution (highest resolution 0.1 nm). With a wavelength range of 185 - 3,300 nm, measurements are possible over a wide range including the ultraviolet, visible and near infrared regions. This allows spectroscopic analysis in a wide variety of fields.
The UV-3600 Plus is designed mainly for the measurement of liquid samples but a wide range of accessories, such as the multipurpose large-sample compartment (MPC-603) with integrating sphere and three detectors, enables measurement of solid samples. With the guaranteed precision of the ASR Series (Absolute Specular Reflectance) attachments, high accuracy absolute reflectance measurements are possible. Various cell holders, like the constant-temperature cell holder and ultra-micro cell holder, can also be mounted to extend measurement possibilities.
The system control for the UV-3600 Plus is utilised with a sophisticated software package, the UV-Probe 2.50, which includes functions for spectrum measurement, quantitation, kinetics and a report generator. Multiple security and audit-trail functions ensure the reliability of data. The connection to the LabSolutions software platform allows comfortable data management and highest security.
