Simple and Reliable Determination of Arsenic in Drinking Water using scTRACE Gold Sensor

Feb 27 2014

Voltammetry or VA is an established technique that has for a long time been seen as a low cost alternative to spectroscopic techniques – usually with at least comparable detection limits- for the analysis of metals in water samples. Historically a metal like Arsenic required the use of a gold solid state electrode that required regular user intervention prior to and during analytical use.

Metrohm is now able to offer the scTrace gold sensor for use with the Metrohm 797 VA Computrace that affords straightforward and reliable monitoring of arsenic in drinking water to ensure the compliance with the EU directive of less than 10 µg l-1 in less than 10 minutes.

Key benefits of the scTRACE  gold sensor for Arsenic analysis apart from  its low cost and  ease of use are; no daily conditioning prior to use, maintenance free sensor comprises all three electrodes, semi disposable (-50 measurements), detection limit-10 µg l-1 and speciation of As(lll)/As(V).
