How SRC Technology Revolutionises Sample Prep For Elemental Analysis

Jun 26 2019

ultraWAVE is the latest innovation in microwave digestion from Milestone. Providing a superior alternative to traditional closed and open vessel digestion, the ultraWAVE offers industrial and research labs greater digestion capability, double sample throughput, improved workflow and significantly lower operating costs - all with a single, easy-to-use instrument.

With SRC technology, there is no requirement to batch samples with a similar matrix; all sample types can be digested at the same time. Additionally, the high temperature and pressure capabilities of the technology allow even the most difficult organic matrices to be digested in the minimum amount of time. With the nitrogen-pressurised capping system, samples of widely different analyte concentration can be positioned next to each other in the chamber without concerns of cross-contamination. It’s also worth pointing out that there is no minimum volume of acid that must be used with the SRC, which is extremely useful particularly when looking to lower detection capability or to analysing very small sample sizes.

The system is extremely convenient as no assembly or disassembly of vessels is required. It uses simple and inexpensive vials of different materials, even disposable glass vials. As the same method is used for every sample, time-saving method development is eliminated. The disposable vessels eliminate the need for cleaning between sample runs. Any combination of samples are digested simultaneously, removing the need for batching.

The stainless-steel chamber construction can heat to extremely high temperatures and withstand pressures greater than 2.5x that of any other closed-vessel microwave digestion systems. The instrument maximises sample size to address homogeneity and/or detection needs.

The cost-effective ultraWAVE features ensure lower costs per sample, reduced labour costs and significant savings on consumables.
