Heat the Chamber Not the Lab

Carbolite`s 1100°C, ELF Series Chamber Furnaces, available in 6, 14 and 23 litres sizes, utilise the very latest in low thermal mass insulation. Demand for this technology is proving so popular that Carbolite are in the process of doubling the capacity of the vacuum forming plant which they use to create this highly efficient form of insulation. The exceptional efficiency of the low thermal mass insulation, combined with Carbolite`s double walled furnace construction, not only keeps the furnace exterior at a safe temperature but also ensures that precious energy is used to heat up the furnace rather that the rest of the laboratory.
Below the dense wear resistant surface this alumina based insulation presents a very low thermal mass. Meaning that much more of the energy provided to the free radiating wire elements of the ELF Series goes into heating the chamber interior and the test-sample instead of heating up the furnace walls, enabling both the 6 and 23 litre models to reach 1,000°C in around 30 minutes. If that`s too long to wait, then the Carbolite 301 PDI controller that is fitted as standard, can always be used to set a delayed start, so as to have the furnace ready and at temperature for the start of the working day. Alternatively the 301`s integral process timer can ensure that the furnace only runs for as long as it is required to.
