bioMérieux, a world leader in the field of in vitro diagnostics, would like to congratulate the winner of this year’s John Bertrand Prize for virology, Sarah Keep from the Pirbright Institute. Sponsored by bioMérieux for the fourth year running, this prize is awarded to the top student graduating from the Virology MSc course at Liverpool John Moores University. Sarah, a research assistant in the Avian Endemic Viral Diseases Group at the Pirbright Institute, commented: “I was quite surprised to win the John Bertrand Prize, and I am completely over the moon about it. I enrolled for the Virology MSc to further my knowledge of the subject, as I didn't study a large of amount of virology during my undergraduate microbiology degree.”

“The course was ideal as it easily fitted in with my home and working life, and it has expanded my general virology knowledge, which has definitely helped with my research activities. It has also helped to build my confidence, particularly when critically reviewing other people's work. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone wishing to expand their knowledge of virology.”
