Trust Is Good, Traceability Is Better
Aug 12 2022
To prove the accuracy of thermometers and density meters to authorities and business partners around the world, you need internationally acknowledged evidence: ISO 17025 calibration. Anton Paar’s ISO 17025 calibration guarantees traceability of equipment to the International System of Units (SI). This traceability is the only way to be sure that measurement results are globally comparable and true.
The Anton Paar headquarters in Austria as well as subsidiaries in the USA, Mexico, and Brazil have accredited ISO 17025 calibration laboratories. This means calibration certificates can be acquired not just directly with an instrument purchase, but also right in the user’s lab. For density calibrations, the temperature is determined by a traceable thermometer and the density by measuring an ISO 17034-certified standard. To achieve a measurement uncertainty as small as possible, exclusively highly accurate density standards are used, whose densities were determined by hydrostatic weighing.
For temperature, Anton Paar offers comparison calibrations of resistance thermometers from 0°C up to 200°C with an exceptionally small measurement uncertainty of 10 mK. For calibration, Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometers traceable to the International Temperature Scale 1990 (ITS-90) are used. Two temperature fixed points, the water triple point and the melting point of gallium, serve as the primary standards in the lab. Based on different measurement temperatures, new temperature coefficients are calculated in compliance with IEC 60751.
