Refractometer for precise concentration measurements of urea solutions
May 16 2023
Nitrogen oxide (NOx) gases are a global polluter with major effects on health and the environment. One of the main sources of NOx in the atmosphere is the combustion of diesel fuel in diesel engines. Selective catalytic reduction involves a well-defined urea solution to fulfill governmental regulations on NOx in exhaust fumes. Exact measurement of the urea content is essential. The test methods for aqueous urea solutions with a urea content of 32% (AUS 32) are laid down in ISO 22241-2 (2019). Synonyms for these urea solutions are AdBlue, DEF and ARLA.
Anton Paar’s Abbemat refractometers fulfil all the requirements of the latest ISO 22241-2 standard. They come with internal temperature control, delivering very high refractive index measurement accuracy. And you can say goodbye to the additional cost and maintenance of an external water bath. Abbemat refractometers incorporate a ready-to-use method in accordance with the latest ISO 22241-2 standard for urea concentration measurements in the range between 30% and 35%. The results are recorded and can be printed or transferred to a PC for further use.
