INTEGRA Biosciences unveils the SWITCH hybrid pipette

INTEGRA Biosciences is excited to announce the launch of its new SWITCH hybrid pipette, available from September 2025. The SWITCH is designed to eliminate the long-standing compromise between pipetting control and speed, allowing scientists to transition seamlessly between manual liquid handling and electronic repeat dispensing with a single ergonomic device.

Manual pipettes offer the control needed for delicate tasks – such as mixing or supernatant removal – but typically fall short in repetitive workflows like aliquoting. Electronic pipettes solve this problem with programmable repeat dispensing functions, but often involve complex set-up, shared usage and a less intuitive user experience. The SWITCH solves these challenges by combining the familiar feel of a manual pipette with the aliquoting speed and efficiency of an electronic device, all without changing how users work.

The innovative hybrid pipette features a thumb-operated plunger that stays at the same height across all volume settings – eliminating excessive thumb stretching – and lowers further in repeat dispense mode for effortless, button-like operation. This ergonomic design reduces strain while enhancing comfort, control and precision. A quick set ring allows one-handed volume adjustments, and an easy-to-read display shows the volume aspirated in real time. It uses GRIPTIPS^® pipette tips for secure, strain-free tip loading and ejection, and includes USB-C charging – even while in use – to ensure all-day operation. The SWITCH is also compatible with the Flex charging stand, which can securely hold and charge up to 6 SWITCH pipettes simultaneously – keeping them upright and organized – and is available in rotary and linear formats to suit any workspace.
