New shelving system boosts incubator capacity for advanced cell therapies
Feb 08 2024
In response to the accelerating advancements and popularity of advanced therapy techniques, Thermo Scientific has unveiled the ground-breaking CultiMaxx™ Shelving System. This innovative solution is tailored to address the increasing demand for faster research and production within laboratories. The system is specifically designed to boost the capacity of incubators utilising the four most common cell culture production vessels.
The CultiMaxx™ shelving system is compatible with Thermo Scientific™ Heracell™ VIOS™ 250i and Thermo Scientific™ Forma™ Steri-Cycle i250 CO2 incubators, allowing for a remarkable 150% increase in G-Rex bioreactors without compromising performance. This enhancement is applicable across various incubator models and vessel types, providing scientists the flexibility to scale up their production of cell therapies in accordance with their preferred methods.
Douglas Wernerspach, Senior Business Director and General Manager - CO2 Incubators at Thermo Fisher Scientific, emphasised the significance of this advancement in the field of regenerative medicine. "Cell therapy is only at its beginning of transforming human health," he stated. "Laboratories working in regenerative medicine will be challenged to keep pace with increased demand over the coming years. CultiMaxx Shelving Systems are an ideal offering for these scientists who want to scale up production of cultured cells quickly and efficiently, while retaining their current lab footprint."
The CultiMaxx System is engineered to accommodate more batches and improve vessel accessibility for large vessels, including 1L or other cell culture bags, Thermo Scientific Nunc™ Cell Factory™ systems with 10 or 13 layers, Thermo Scientific Nunc Cell Factory systems with 4 layers, and G-Rex® bioreactors from Wilson Wolf Corporation when used with select Thermo Scientific CO2 incubators.
