CO2 Incubators Provide Optimum Conditions in the Laboratory
Oct 07 2010
Lec Medical’s new CO2 incubators for laboratories provide exceptional temperature stability and control, with fast temperature recovery time and resistance to contamination, to enable scientists to achieve the best environments for their research and testing.
The CO2 range includes the LICO2 and the LICO2S incubators which use carbon dioxide to stimulate the environment required in a laboratory to culture and grow cells. Both have a 190 litre capacity and the LICO2S has a 200°C hot air sterilisation cycle.
All incubators feature a heating system with high performance insulation to ensure optimum temperature control and stability within ±0.1°C. They also feature an inner glass door which allows users a clear view of the contents without disturbing the internal atmosphere and an outer door has a magnetic gasket.
The energy-efficient incubators have been designed to be corrosion and contamination resistant. They are made from stainless steel and feature radius corners for easy cleaning. Each has a one-piece chamber and is finished with anti-bacterial biocide paint on the outside. To further reduce any risk of contamination the incubators do not feature fans.
Each incubator features a user-friendly multi-function PID touch screen for simple control of temperature, CO2 and alarm functions (including low gas and power failure), as well as providing real time logging in graphical and text format so that staff can monitor the chamber conditions easily. The alarms give users reassurance that the environment is correct, helping to save valuable downtime.
“Having the optimum environment in the lab for culture growth is essential,” says Matt Newsome, head of marketing at Lec Medical, part of GDPA. “We’re pleased to offer scientists a sterile and secure environment for their research.”
