Centrifuge
First Microcentrifuge with Hydrocarbon Cooling
Jul 10 2023
Eppendorf has unveiled its ground-breaking Centrifuge 5427 R, revolutionising laboratory practices with its innovative hydrocarbon cooling system. This pioneering microcentrifuge is designed to empower scientists in conducting a wide range of molecular and cell biology applications, all while prioritising sustainability. By incorporating a natural cooling agent with an exceptionally low global warming potential (GWP), this instrument ensures the protection of valuable samples and our planet simultaneously.
In contrast to conventional refrigerants like R134a, which carry a high GWP of 1430 and significantly contribute to global warming, natural cooling agents such as R290 (propane) offer a compelling alternative. With a GWP of less than 3, these eco-friendly agents have minimal environmental impact when released into the atmosphere.
In a bid to empower customers in making sustainable choices, the Centrifuge 5427 R carries the ACT label certification. This certification provides transparent, third-party verified information regarding the environmental impact of the product. From manufacturing and energy consumption to water usage, packaging, and product end-of-life, the ACT label offers comprehensive insights into the eco-friendliness of the Centrifuge 5427 R.
Beyond its dependable propane cooling, the Centrifuge 5427 R excels in multiple other aspects. Designed with a compact footprint, it offers an ideal solution for laboratories dealing with high sample throughput. Its dual-row rotor FA-45-48-11 accommodates up to 48 x 1.5/2 mL tubes, ensuring efficient processing of multiple samples simultaneously. The instrument stands out as a versatile choice for multi-user environments. With a diverse selection of nine rotor options, including fixed-angle and swing-bucket rotors, it caters to a wide range of applications in the fields of molecular and cell biology.
