FUJIFILM Wako Laboratory Chemicals, supplied in the UK by Alpha Laboratories Ltd, offers a range of specialist solutions for your proteomics research.
Whether you are looking to separate, detect, purify, analyse or stain phosphorylated proteins, the Phos-tag™ range provides the perfect solution. Capturing the phosphorylated Ser/Thr/Tyr and His/Asp/Lys residues, Phos-tag™ Acrylamide and SuperSep Phos-tag™ pre-cast gels allow the separation of phosphorylated proteins, regardless of sequence, during Electrophoresis. Phos-tag™ Biotin enables detection of phosphorylated proteins with high sensitivity during chemiluminescent Western blot analysis. Further downstream analysis and detection by MALDI-TOF/MS is also possible using the Phos-tag™ Mass Analytical Kit.
To optimise downstream Mass Spectrometry analysis, treat your samples with both Lysyl Endopeptidase and Trypsin, to allow highly specific and efficient protein digestion. This dual treatment provides improved cleavage at the Lysine residue, by increasing the number of peptides obtained and allowing for easy database searches.
Since the development of determination of amino acid sequencing by Edman and Begg, there has been a continued requirement for more rapid and micro-scale analysis of peptides. FUJIFILM Wako’s range of dedicated eluents, HPLC columns, and other quality reagents, supports Automated Amino Acid Analysis by the Edman degradation method compatible with Shimadzu and other automated systems. Also offered, is a complementary selection of PTH-Amino Acid standards, and Certified Reference Materials, accredited by the National Metrology Institute of Japan.
D-amino acids have been shown to have different functions from L-amino acids, for example being an essential component of bacterial peptidoglycan, or D-serine functioning in the brain for memory and learning. There is increased interest in the sequencing of D-amino acids, FUJIFILM Wako’s (R)-BiAC and LC/MS reagents provide good sensitivity and selectivity when analysing chiral amino acids. These are suitable for use with a wide variety of samples, applicable to food, biological and microorganism investigations.
