MOU strengthens European Neutron Partnerships

The recent renewal of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the European Spallation Source (ESS) and ISIS Neutron and Muon source of the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), part of United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI), emphasises the common goal of enabling a strong European neutron community based on knowledge-exchange and scientific as well as technological collaboration.

Since the first signing in 2014 the MoU has provided the framework for close collaboration between the two facilities, with an extensive programme for research and technology. It paves the way forward for the mutual development of components and instrument technologies, as well as the exchange of research and technical staff.

The MoU was mutually signed by ESS Director General Helmut Schober and ISIS Director Roger Eccleston. It will be valid for a period of 10 years.

Under the agreement cooperative Research Programs will be established to develop particular areas of expertise, exchange scientific and technical knowledge, research and technical staff, and specific research areas of common interest.
