SLS Opens New Office in Kenya
Mar 27 2019
Scientific laboratory Supplies (SLS) has shown its commitment to the East African laboratory market by opening up a new office in Nairobi, Kenya.
SLS recognises the importance of the laboratory market in East Africa which plays home to some of the world’s leading institutes involved in agriculture, food and medical research. SLS is working closely with a number of these research institutes including HJF Medical Research International, International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, International Rice Institute and Makerere MRC Uganda.
After serving this market, from the UK for several years, SLS believe they can better support their customers in this part of the world with reliable and locally based sales, service and support - customer centricity is at the heart of SLS Kenya. Nairobi was a natural choice of location for the office due to many pan African research institutions having headquarters in Nairobi. Frequent transport and cargo connections assist SLS in providing the highest level of logistical service to their customers.
Stephen Mellor, Sales Director for SLS Kenya has a wealth of experience in the East African laboratory market and is responsible for setting the offices up along with Benedict Malingu, Technical Director SLS Kenya. Benedict is highly familiar with this market as he ran his own business in lab equipment servicing and supply for several years. His local knowledge coupled with years of technical experience will enable SLS to provide industry leading levels of customer support.
Ian Roulstone, Sales Director SLS commented: “We are incredibly excited to establish a direct presence in such a vibrant and growing market. Our international presence is enhanced by the establishment of this office and we look forward to growing our East African business whilst further extending our global reach and presence.”
Stephen Mellor, Sales Director SLS - Kenya added: “The Kenyan market, in particular Nairobi, is alive with the research institutions freely sharing information and research personnel with counterparts in neighbouring countries. There has been a unanimously positive response from our customers and our presence here is already yielding results.”
