Funding round to support nanotech growth

Singapore-based Venture capitalist company Nanostart Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of Nanostart AG (Frankfurt), is preparing an additional fundraising of up to 4 million SGD for its further expansion. A large part of the amount has already been committed and as in previous funding in February 2012, the money comes from the existing shareholders and new investors based in the region. It shall be used for follow up, funding the existing portfolio and the company is said to be already working on new investment opportunities. Established in Singapore in 2012 with the goal to explore the growth markets of Asia it invests in young, up-and-coming nanotechnology companies which are approaching market launch or have innovative products already on the market. In Singapore, it invests as a partner of Singapore government via Nanostart Singapore Early-Stage Venture Fund I Pte Ltd.
The company has also formed an advisory board initially comprising of Harry De Wit, President Asia with Covidien, Prof. Dr. Uwe Klima, Head of Cardiosurgery at the American Hospital Dubai, Günter Mayer, Senior Manager with Infineon, Jürgen Binzer, Entrepreneur and Vice President with Hollingsworth & Vose in Germany and Chua Hong Moh, Entrepreneur from Singapore. The advisors will support the company’s further development and its expansion in Asia by providing their expertise as well as their broad network.
The announcement was made during the event “Investing in Singapore Nanotechnology” at Singapore Polytechnic, where Nanostart Asia Pacific and Singapore Polytechnic jointly featured their activities in the nano- and high-tech space to the investment and business community
