Lumex Mercury Analysers

Mar 17 2014

For more than 15 years Lumex Instruments manufactures and supports mercury analysers with unique technical specifications. The instruments are based on Zeeman atomic absorption spectroscopy with high frequency modulation of background absorption, which eliminates the effect of potential interferences. This technology allows ultrasensitive highly selective real-time measurements without any need for chemicals, any carrier or zero gases for operation. Most of the samples are analysed directly avoiding time-consuming and costly sample preparation and preconcentration on the gold trap.

The instruments cover a wide range of applications and the solutions are customised to meet specific customer and application demand. However they combine flexibility and may be configured for addressing various mercury control tasks.

RA-915M Mercury Analyser is a portable multifunctional atomic absorption spectrometer with Zeeman Background Correction. It is the only highly sensitive mercury analyser that does not require gold amalgam pre-concentration and subsequent regeneration. This enables the user to conduct real time, second-by-second monitoring of vapor phase mercury. It makes simple the measurements of mercury in ambient air, indoor air for workplace monitoring, in natural gas, and in process gases. The RA-915M analyser also provides high versatility of measurement options.

In the combination with pyrolytic decomposition attachment Pyro-915+ it becomes possible to analyse directly liquid and solid samples like water, soils and sediments, crude oil and oil products, sorbent traps, food products, hair and urine, waste and many other samples without any sample preparation procedures. The adjustable heating modes and full control over atomisation process make it possible to select the optimal decomposition procedure. No carrier gas is needed for the analysis. The cost of analysis thus becomes very low, and the simplicity of operation allows

The instruments designed for air analysis also include the RA-915AM monitors and Light-915 analyser.

RA-915AM monitors are designed for continuous mercury measurements in ambient air, and in natural gas. The monitors feature fully-automated unattended operation. The RA-915AM monitor for ambient air allows ultra-sensitive measurements and is compliant with international legislation for measurement of mercury in ambient air.

RA-915AMNG monitor for natural gas allows direct rapid analysis of mercury in natural gas, enables prompt reaction to variations of mercury concentrations in the stream.

Light-915 analyser is a light-weight compact portable instrument that is widely used for workplace monitoring, mercury spill identification and clean-up verification. It is the only instrument with high sensitivity and selectivity that enables direct real-time measurements (with response time one second). Built-in performance verification test cell and automatic zero check procedure makes operation of Light-915 really simple. The instrument is compact, weighs just 3.3 kg, and provides full capabilities for field monitoring, for example, 12 hour battery operation, telescopic probe, datalogging, bluetooth interface for remote control and data transfer.
