Precision PCR starts with smarter plates
May 07 2025
Reliable PCR and qPCR results depend on more than just enzymes and primers - the quality of your consumables can make or break an assay. Azenta Life Sciences has developed its 4titude® range of PCR plates, engineered to deliver consistency, flexibility, and efficiency across a wide range of thermal cycling workflows.
Produced from high-purity virgin polypropylene in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom, these 96- and 384-well plates are available in a choice of low- or high-profile formats and a variety of skirted styles to suit most thermocyclers. Their ultra-thin walls enable fast, even heat transfer for consistent amplification, while raised well rims promote secure sealing and reduce the risk of cross-contamination or evaporation.
Plate colour matters - especially in real-time PCR. While clear wells are ideal for manual pipetting and sample visibility, they often compromise fluorescence detection. To overcome this, 4titude® offers white-well plates that boost signal intensity and reproducibility - critical for detecting low-copy targets or borderline positives.
To address instrument compatibility issues sometimes caused by white wells, Azenta also provides frosted-well plates. These deliver improved signal reflection over clear wells, without triggering readout errors in sensitive qPCR systems.
For added flexibility, divisible plates let users snap off sections for smaller-scale runs, cutting down on plastic waste and saving costs. And with a range of frame colours and well finishes - clear, frosted, or white - labs can organise workflows at a glance and minimise handling errors.
Whether you're scaling up for high-throughput assays or optimising conditions for a single critical target, 4titude® PCR plates are designed to bring greater reliability to every reaction.
